quit dust now.
Im getting very tiered of seeing posts like this, i can only imagine how people like CCP Eterne feel when people post this kind of stuff. I think its a very good thing that they are taking the time to fix issues that are present in the game. When other shooters launch they have very few fixes, alot of them dont fix any of the bugs, only release a few maps maybe 1 weapon and MAYBE a new game type. They even launch them before they have fixed alot of the bugs and then rake in the money leaving us with shattered dreams and broken promises.

You might want to take the time to look at the "colourful" history of Eve Online, or even DUST 514 itself; which I would like to point out you might want to visit the CCPGames YouTube channel to see "footage" from 2009 Fanfest when it was unofficially announced prior to it's official announcement at E3 2010.
I would also suggest you learn about the games industry pretty damn quick instead of firmly planting your lips on CCPs posterior ... the game is now Public, the ONLY reason they are calling it a Beta still and getting away with it is people like you; The game is LIVE, freely available via PSN with Transactions to Earn Income
Regardless if CCP want to admit it or not, they have gone RETAIL. In-fact if it wasn't for the "Open Beta" Moniker I guarentee right now more players would be so disappointed they would simply have stopped; but no by calling it a "Beta" still it means that everything will become rosey and awesome by the time they chose to call it "Retail" officially.
Is the game ready for the public or to be Live? **** NO, and I personally wouldn't have an issue with it being called a Beta IF they were not already charging players AND have linked it to systems within the Live Tranquility Server.
No doubt this move was in-part due to EVE Players becoming anxious for release, but also probably pressure from Sony given CCP missed their 2012 deadline which Sony themselves actually promised so they ended up looking like fools now just CCP who honestly make a habbit of claiming they are doing something then suddenly dropping it or pushing back "until further notice"
There is a reason why SOON-üGäó was plastered all over DUST during closed beta... it isn't just an inside CCP joke, it has frankly become thier mantra. As an Eve player, frankly I'm so used to this that it's water off a ducks back. In the end Succeed or Fail, DUST has almost no baring on what I do in Eve right now; apart from making FW Complexes a bit of pain due to the "districts from corporation battles = more or less complexes we have to run to conquer a system... like CCP haven't screwed up FW enough already.
What I have failed to understand for years, isn't that CCP often aims so high - but why they never truely think of the small steps they can take to reach that goal. If something gets to difficult, often it just ends up left at the wayside as an unfinished project.
Don't get me wrong here, I'm no so jaded that I think this is a doomed project - in fact I hope that things do come together and fall in to place. Still something I would love for CCP to understand, and I mean TRUELY understand is we don't want it to take the next Decade (or more) as has been the case with Eve before it all starts to work as it was originally intended to and become a big triple A title that can't be ignored.
Paramount above all else is Gameplay, Environment Design, Ease of Use and Content.
Right now DUST just isn't enjoyable to play, it feel so akward, cumbersome and overly complicated. They're suppose to be bringing the Eve Experience to the Console ... that doesn't mean simply transposing how everything works in Eve, that is the whole damn point in this being exclusive to Consoles - so that group of people can be involved within the Eve Universe without all the normal bullshit that was never particularly well thought out in the first place following.
Still the main problem here really isn't the game, but CCP themselves. The lessons they should've learnt from Eve Online - like listening to thier playerbase, but also the development pipeline.
Seriously, they are using UDK - one of the easist and most developer friendly Middleware engines, it allows for some incredibly quick prototyping and implimentation. With the state the game is in they should still be in ALPHA phase, those helping to test and improve the core gameplay mechanics should be done exclusively on the PC; once it hits beta phase, then you can move it on to the console hardware itself opening it up for Close for feature testing and bug corrections along with optimisation for the specific hardware before moving on to Open for mass-scale server testing and data gathering for further optimisation and polish.
At this point in the development pipeline all of the CORE features, functionality and basic gameplay modes & maps should've been completed MONTHS ago. With the content team working on the post-release content, i.e new Missions, Planets, Gameplay Modes, etc...
The product I see and play on PSN today, doesn't look or feel like it went through any form of Rapid Development Prototyping to make sure the core systems were solid. That frankly to me spells disaster because if they can't even get that aspect of the development pipeline down, it is going to be months to years before the game is at a state that it will be competitive let alone what the public were promised.
Especially when you rely upon a new and unproven technology you develop specifically for it. Stick to what players know, what is easiest to impliment then expand; this was the problem with Incarna - it was too ambitious, with a need for financial support prior to the feature being completed. CCP are making the EXACT same mistake all over again... there simply isn't enough game to justify the "cost" to the players. |

OP needs to HTFU You've bee watching DUST while a few of us have been playing it since last year, and have given CCP the benefit of the doubt when it comes to this game time and time again. Some of us are at the point where this is just ridiculous, and the lack of features is a bit alarming. I have been playing dust and eve for a while now thank you. And people have been playing eve for over 10 years. Dont pretend you or the OP have a monopoly on wait time. If you dont like being part of the test crew for this amazing game, and if you dont like waiting, then dont help us test it anymore Take a look at what eve was when they first started........look at it today. nuff said
As one of those players who is <6months away from celebrating a decade in Eve Online, I would like to respectfully ask you to put down the crack pipe and wake up to reality.
Has Eve improved since it was released? Sure in some respects it had, but other systems are still the same as when they were released ... not because they're good and enjoyable aspects of the game but systems such as Player-Owned-Structures quite frankly would be so much of a hassle for CCP to fix, that despite last year promising that 2013 would be when they were going to revamp them - only for us to find out from CSM Minutes posted last month, that it's too much hard work so they can't be bothered.
Faction Warfare had been promised on release in 2006 as a means of providing good casual PvP, they implimented the system very lack luster from what was promised - it then took them 6 years... SIX FREAKING YEARS to revisit it, to which they have patted themselves on the back over their awesomesauce changes; which honestly as someone who has been particularly invested in FW for nearly 5 years frankly have to say it is worse than ever as all CCP have done is turned it into the same broken mechanics as Null-Sec Sovereignty that almost everyone hates universally right now - bribing players back with "quick and easy" ways to make ISK.
Absolutely NONE of the original complaints players had about FW not meaning anything were addressed even remotely. CCP have a habit of promising the moon, then actually delivering a time-share shack in the middle of the congo.
You want another example: Missiles, enough said. |
